Hasbro, Here Are Some Micro Force Ideas

Hasbro is bringing back Fighter Pods with the new name Micro Force.  Since I am the internet’s leading Fighter Pod customizer (largely because I’m probably the internet’s only Fighter Pod, excuse me, Micro Force customizer), here’s all of my posted Micro Force customs in one spot.  (And yes, I did say “posted”.  I do have a few surprises left for this year).

Again, thanks to Hasbro and Andy Ochiltree, Hasbro’s senior manager of Global Brand Marketing, for bringing this line back.  I can’t say how excited I am to get new figures in this style!

Here’s a group shot:

Here are some bigger images that are a little better to see.  The first group is figures from the Prequel era up through the original trilogy.

Back row left to right: Two ARC troopers, Goofy as Darth Vader, Dak Ralter, Chirrut Imwe

Front row left to right: Clone Trooper Able (from the Dark Horse Star Wars comics), a Rodian Jedi, C-3PO, and Hoth Luke

And here are figures from the current trilogy:

Back row left to right: Poe Dameron, Snap Wexley, Captain Phasma, and a bunch of First Order Stormtroopers (can’t have just one).

Front row left to right: Luke (based on Phil Noto fan art), C-3PO, BB-8, Rey, Finn, Chewie, Han, and Finn as FN-2187.

Now if we just had some figures from The Last Jedi.  Did I say something about not posting all the figures I’ve done so far…

Star Wars Fighter Pods Series 6: Snap Wexley

At the beginning of this year, I bought some clay and some sculpting tools.  After many years of customizing, I decided to start some customs from scratch.  And while I’ve done a few things (parts of figures, weapons, BB-8), I hadn’t done a full human figure until now.

Meet Snap Wexely, flying ace from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I have always been partial to the X-Wing pilots, and it was easier to sculpt a helmet than hair.  Besides, my Poe Dameron custom missed his pilot buddies.

Star Wars Fighter Pods Series 6: Cheery Chewbacca

When I saw this year’s Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar featured a holiday-themed Wookie, I decided to make a Fighter Pod version.

This Cheery Chewbacca is made from a Series 4 hologram Chewie with a clay candy cane.  And, despite his indignation, he looks pretty good with my Christmas decorations.  Imagine seeing this guy coming out of your fireplace on Christmas Eve instead of Santa.  Oh Disney, I’ve got a great idea for a Christmas movie….

Star Wars Fighter Pods Series 6: Rey

No set of The Force Awakens figures would be complete without the movie’s central character, Rey.  I made two versions – one with a blaster and one with her staff.  Both versions of started with the Series 1 Padme.  For the staff version, I switched out the blaster arm with one from Asajj Ventress.  The staff is built from Ventress’ lightsabers. The rest is electrical tape.

I finally picked up some figures from Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie.  I wish Hasbro had brought back Fighter Pods along with Micro Machines because there are so many characters I’d love to have.  However, it’s just not practical for me to get them all in the 3 3/4″ scale.

First, I picked up a Micro Machines Rey and her speeder from the Micro Machine Blind Bag series 1.  Its the only character from The Force Awakens available in this series. The speeder includes her net of scavenged goods, which is a nice additional detail.  Fortunately the speeder stands on its own; the blind bag figures do not come with stands.

I also picked up the Wal-Mart exclusive 3 3/4″ Black Series Poe Dameron.  This super-articulated version comes with a removable helmet and a pistol that fits into the holster. For those of you who keep your figures in the package, the Black Series packaging allows you to remove the figure without damaging the package.

Here are Poe and some other pilots you might have seen before…

And since Hasbro didn’t bring back Fighter Pods, stay tuned for my versions of Star Wars: The Force Awakens Fighter Pods!
