Star Trek Fighter Pod Custom: Berlinghoff Rasmussen

One of my favorite ST:TNG episodes is “A Matter of Time” from season 5. In this episode, while the Enterprise crew is trying to save a planet from a global catastrophe, a time traveler from the future, Berlinghoff Rasmussen, arrives to observe. Picard and crew wrestle with the ethics of whether or not to use future knowledge to solve a present danger. And, spoiler, there’s a great twist in the end (are spoiler warnings necessary for something that aired 27 years ago?)

While the role was originally written for Robin Williams, it is delightfully played by Max Headroom actor Matt Frewer. His performance is just plain fun to watch as he intrigues, amuses, annoys, and frustrates (sometimes all at once) the Enterprise crew.

This figure was made from a Micro Force Hologram Luke Skywalker body and a Fighter Pod Chekov head. His coat is made from clay, and he is holding a stolen tricorder taken from a Fighter Pod McCoy.

Star Trek Fighter Pods Custom: Space Jump Sulu

I’m a big fan of the reboot Star Trek movies, and one of my favorite scenes is the space jump scene from the 2009 movie (Wow! I just realized that this “new” movie is nine years old!). Kirk and Sulu have an edge-of-your-seat fight scene as they face off against the Romulans who are trying to destroy the planet Vulcan.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to make a Space Jump Sulu for awhile, and finally settled on the figure of Sulu in the Into Darkness space suit.

The figure is a straight up repaint with electric tape and clay for the details.

STAR WARS MICRO FORCE: JAI AND CLAI

Remember that Star Wars story where a bunch of clone troopers had to do a blind jump into hyperspace seconds before their ship would have been destroyed in battle? The ship crashed on a primitive world in uncharted territory. Only two clones, Jai and Clai, survived. As they tried to settle into their new home, they discovered that the locals were terrorized by a gang called the C’v’dish. Unable to sit by while innocents suffered, Jai and Clai salvaged what gear they could a to defend their new home.

You don’t remember that story? That’s because I made it up. I was thinking that I would like to do Lone Ranger Micro Force figures, and I thought, why not make them clone troopers? So I kitbashed two figures from various clone and Stormtrooper, and came up with designs that echoed the original Lone Ranger and Tonto costumes. The names Jai and Clai were inspired by the actors Jay Silverheels and Clayton Moore, who played Tonto and the Line Ranger. The C’v’dish are based on their enemy, Butch Cavendish.

New Fighter Pods/Micro Force Customizer

I’ve said before that I am the internet’s leading Fighter Pod/Micro Force customizer.  I claimed this title because I seemed to be the ONLY Fighter Pod/Micro Force customizer. But no more!  WOMPS reader bearfacedgeeks sent me pictures of their great customs along with descriptions!

I liked that they did Clone Wars Anakin and Episode 3 Obi-Wan but not visa versa so I swapped heads on the two figures and painted them.

Even more new Micro Force Figures!

Jedi News has released a press image of the Series 5 packaging along with an actual figure shot of Enfys Nest from the new Solo movie!

I’m especially looking forward to Maz and Enfys Nest.  The “thumbs-up” BB-8 looks cute too.  I’m wondering if the Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma figures will be new sculpts or reprints of series 2.

I still haven’t found Series 3 and 4 yet, but I’m sure they will arrive in my area soon.  I can’t believe how many new characters we are getting in a line that’s been dormant for five years!  Thanks Hasbro!

The Micro Force Series 3 Mystery

About a week ago I posted that the UK had a different Micro Force Series 3 than we were getting here in the US (based on the photos shown during the big Solo toy reveal).

However, Hasbro sent out May the Fourth packages to some US-based Star Wars sites, and these packages included  the same The Last Jedi-themed series 3 as seen in the UK, instead of the Solo-themed series 3 originally advertised.

To top it off, Entertainment Earth is now offering pre-orders for series 3pre-orders for series 3, with this handy little picture that I think shows which characters are packed with which characters.

I really don’t care which order the figures come out, as long as they are all released. I’m ecstatic about the figures pictured above and I can’t wait to have K-2SO and a goggle-wearing Chewie (among others) join them.  Maybe we will see the Solo-themed line in the fall (maybe when Solo is released on disc?).

The UK has a different Micro Force series 3 than the US

On a lark, I decided to look for Micro Force images on Instagram.  I thought maybe I find out if Series 3 had been released yet.  And it had shown up in the UK, but they were completely different figures from those announced as part of the upcoming Solo movie products.

These official photos were posted by Hasbro Pulse.  Comments with the photos state that this series has shown up at a UK store called Sainsburys in the last few weeks.  I did check Sainsburys’ website, but they only had Series 1 listed.

This set is obviously a Last Jedi themed set, with six figures from that movie. I’m thrilled to get a “Jedi Exile” Luke (instead of the “Jedi Master”) look as well as Rose, Poe, Leia, and BB-9E.  While Snoke wasn’t on my wishlist, I like the idea of him as the hologram figure since that’s how we were introduced to the character.

It’s also nice to see more Rogue One figures (including Chirrut, one of my favorites).  Hopefully this trend of including 2 Rogue One figures in each set will continue at least until we get the main cast (and beyond!)

‘Most surprising to me, however is the reprint of the Kit Fisto figure from series 4 of the Fighter Pod line.  Kit Fisto is one of my favorite Star Wars characters, and I never found the original figure.  I’m delighted to get another shot at him.

I have no clue why Hasbro is releasing a different Series 3 overseas than here.  Hopefully this set will be Series 4 here in the US as there are definitely some must have figures in this line.

And, if any of you in the UK are reading this and has some of these figures to trade, let me know.  The same Instagram posts mentioned earlier stated that Series 2 hasn’t shown up there, but they have here. No reason to let a silly thing like an ocean come get in the way of our Star Wars collections.
