Moloch’s Face Fell Off

I’d heard that the new Moloch figure from Solo had a removable mask, but this is a whole new level…

Had to laugh when I saw this at Target today. I wonder how long it will take to end up on eBay as a “rare” variant figure…..

Star Trek Fighter Pods Custom: Space Jump Sulu

I’m a big fan of the reboot Star Trek movies, and one of my favorite scenes is the space jump scene from the 2009 movie (Wow! I just realized that this “new” movie is nine years old!). Kirk and Sulu have an edge-of-your-seat fight scene as they face off against the Romulans who are trying to destroy the planet Vulcan.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to make a Space Jump Sulu for awhile, and finally settled on the figure of Sulu in the Into Darkness space suit.

The figure is a straight up repaint with electric tape and clay for the details.

Batman: The Animated Series Heroclix

It’s been awhile since I bought new Heroclix. I still love the figures, but I had most of the characters I wanted. But when this set, which also features clix from various DC animated series, was annoumced, I was interested. And when they made Nightwing, I had to pick it up.

I also picked up Commissioner Barbara Gordon from Batman Beyond as well as a Wild West Justice Riders version of Martian Manhunter from a previous set.

The set also features characters with their original look and the redesigned fourth season look (my preferred look). Two-Face, complete with flipping coin, only comes in the 4th season look, looks amazing. Mr. Freeze, comes in both versions. While the repaint doesn’t quite capture the 4th season look, it still looks pretty cool.

Update: I just realized that I said the Mr. Freeze clix was cool. While I’m not above bad jokes, this one was unintended. 🙂

STAR WARS MICRO FORCE: JAI AND CLAI

Remember that Star Wars story where a bunch of clone troopers had to do a blind jump into hyperspace seconds before their ship would have been destroyed in battle? The ship crashed on a primitive world in uncharted territory. Only two clones, Jai and Clai, survived. As they tried to settle into their new home, they discovered that the locals were terrorized by a gang called the C’v’dish. Unable to sit by while innocents suffered, Jai and Clai salvaged what gear they could a to defend their new home.

You don’t remember that story? That’s because I made it up. I was thinking that I would like to do Lone Ranger Micro Force figures, and I thought, why not make them clone troopers? So I kitbashed two figures from various clone and Stormtrooper, and came up with designs that echoed the original Lone Ranger and Tonto costumes. The names Jai and Clai were inspired by the actors Jay Silverheels and Clayton Moore, who played Tonto and the Line Ranger. The C’v’dish are based on their enemy, Butch Cavendish.

The Terror That Flaps In The Night!!

I found this great Darkwing Duck figure at Target today with a display of new Duck Tales toys. I haven’t seen the new versiom, but I have heard good things about it and enjoyed the original Disney afternoon shows.

When I saw these blind box toys, I looked to see if there was a Darkwing Duck. I used to have a small DD figurine that came in a box of Frosted Flakes, and its one of the few toys I regret giving away over the years. So I was excited to see that DD was in this line. However, with a $5 price tag and a large number of characters in this set, I decided the odds were too low that I would pull one. Then I noticed this…

The packaging (built to look like a stack of coins) has a see through window! It was easy to look through the packs and spot DD’s large hat. So I grabbed one, and I know have Darkwing Duck back in my collection.
